Project Promise is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization incorporated on January 24, 2014 under the laws of the United States Virgin Islands. We were founded to address the many challenges facing our youth.  Due to failing schools, decreased opportunities, and an increase in at-risk behavior the need for positive support services is imperative at this time. The goal of the program is to identify those youth who are experiencing adolescent hardships and may have a rough transition into adulthood. Project Promise offers positive support services to avoid the stumbling blocks that can negatively impact their lives.

Project Promise currently offers four programs for St. Croix at-risk youth. The programs are designed to encourage participants to lead happier and healthier lives. The ultimate goal is to positively integrate them into society and the economy. Our programs seek to reduce risky behaviors, teach participants how to make informed positive choices and tap into their full potential. We also offer educational experiences and recognition to the general student population.

TURNING LIVES AROUND

OUR VISION

Project Promise is dedicated to bringing about positive change in our world. Our vision is to give at-risk youth the tools and support they need to live healthier lives. Our objectives are to enhance their decision-making and conflict resolution skills, enable them to discover their vocational interests, and ultimately integrate them into society and our economy. Our goal is to inspire a future of excellence and success for youth throughout the Virgin Islands community and the world.

OUR MISSION

Project Promise is dedicated to improving the lives of at-risk youth on St. Croix by providing empowerment initiatives, cultural programs, and family services.

Resa O'Reilly

Resa O’Reilly founded Project Promise, a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to improving the lives of at-risk youth in the St. Croix community. After over a decade of working with the area’s youth in various capacities, she recognized a few simple truths.

Resa recognized a strong need for a holistic program that would simultaneously address many of the challenges that the island’s at-risk youth face. She realized that a large number of the Islands’ youth experience a combination of risk factors that put their futures in jeopardy. In order to have the greatest impact, she saw that what at-risk youth really needed was a support program that would empower the whole child to succeed.

In her work, Resa saw firsthand that it often takes just one person to express a real interest to make a positive impact in a child’s life. Motivated by her desire to make a difference in the lives of these at-risk youth and her community, Project Promise was born. Working together with a Board of Directors she got to work creating an organization in St. Croix that will combine one-on-one mentoring with an educational, cultural and vocational focus to safeguard a brighter future for at-risk youth in our community.
